Hey girl, I LOVED reading about your special day! Your vision for your day sounds like it will be AWESOME. So small and intimate in such a beautiful place. Elopements have such a special place in my heart, and I want to say how happy I am that you guys are having a wedding that is a reflection of YOU GUYS. Not a production or an event, but a day centered on the actual marriage that is beginning and then celebrating later with the people that are special to you. That’s so important and so often overlooked, so I am proud that you guys were able to say “no” to a huge event and instead plan the day/weekend/week that your hearts wanted. Lol, I’m a sap, but that makes me so happy when people choose to do that. So after reading about your needs, I created three packages that I think will meet your needs! So I know that you wanted recommendations for an officient, but in Switzerland, they require you to get married in a local registry office. (Sometimes my couples have me capture this part, sometimes not because it is pretty formal and legal.) MOST OF THE TIME, I suggest getting married in advance of the elopement in a courthouse in your own city for the easiest way to get legally married. THEN go on your amazing elopement adventure and have your ceremony and say your vows to each other in beautiful Switzerland.

Because of this, usually my couples don’t have officiants at their vow reading ceremony!

But if you did want to get legally married at a local registry office in Switzerland, you’re going to need these legal documents!

a photo ID that was either issued in Switzerland or is a passport from your home country
a notarized document that states your current address and marital status
a completed marriage request form
both of the applicants’ birth certificates

So here are a few of my favorite locations in Switzerland!

Grindelwald: This place offers tons of forests, waterfalls, lakes and mountain views! The town is super cute, and the scenery is UNREAL. I have a few favorite hikes here and there is a large variety of short and long hikes! Not too from Interlaken or Murren

Engstligenalp waterfall: 2.5 km walk to this gorgeous waterfall! You take a gondola to the top of this gorgeous valley and get an amazing view of this stunning waterfall! You could even do the whole hike from the town as well if you feel like a longer hike!

Vals Valley : This place is so idyllic and has many beautiful hikes. Its located in Engandine the long high Alpine valley region in the eastern Swiss Alps located in the canton of Graubünden.

Stabbach Falls: A short walk to the tallest waterfall in switzerland! Very close to the cute town of Lauterbrunnen!

Oeschinensee Lake: This lake is so gorgeous and surrounded by forests! The lake is s super cool green/blue color and the high peaks that surround the lake and huge and usually snow capped! The trail to the lake is 4 km long, but you can even extend the hike and do the upper peak loop for an added 8 km!

Mountain View Trail: located near Murren, this 3.5 mile hike has stunning views of the surrounding mountain and valleys! To access this trail, you ride the cable car from Lauterbrunn to Grütschalp cable car!
